On the night of February 21st, the KU Jayhawks, took on a conference team, the Oklahoma State Cowboys. From the start Bill Self knew that they had to win to keep there top ranking in place. Right after the suspension of point guard Tyshawn Taylor, the team had a gap to fill. Filling in for him would be Elijah Johnson. Johnson, was a key factor in the game to prove that he could take over the point guard position. The Jayhawks, undoubtedly were suppose to walk away with a victory. They did just that of course, but did not come as easily as they may have thought. Inside the post for Oklahoma State was Marshall Moses. He, scoring a career high of twenty seven points, could not be stopped. Having three total fouls, Moses went to the line himself, multiple times helping out with his career high points. It seemed like not many were guarding him the hole entire time, and that's why he dominated the floor for Oklahoma State. For the home team on the inside, there was the one and only, Marcus Morris. Also with twenty seven points Morris was a key shooter. The first half of play more the second because Bill Self wanted other players such as Mario Little to work the floor. Elijah Johnson taking the place of Tyshawn Taylor scored fifteen points, and was perfect from the outside. Overall the Jayhawks came away with a 92 to 65 win, to keep their #2 spot in the nation for now. The Jayhawks are now focused on the opposite Oklahoma team, the Sooner's who they will play this week on saturday.
