Coming into the school year late, I felt like I would not be able to see any home games in Allen Field House. Hearing from friends that sitting in the student section was ridiculous and was very exciting I did not expect the rush I would feel for the first time going to Allen Field House, and standing on the court for my first game as a Jayhawk. It was an experience I hope to have repeatedly through out my time here at KU. My first game I got to experience watching on James Naismith court was the Colorado Buffaloes versus the home team, you guested it the Kansas Jayhawks. I figured it would be like any other basketball game, but I soon realized it was something much more beyond that. Getting there early was no big deal because we all got to look on to watch our favorite players warm up. Going on and off the court it was about five minutes until game time. Needless to say this is when the action was about to begin. the introductions of the starting five were just getting over, and the highlight video stops everyone in there tracks. Looking up onto the screen I figured it was just a "cool" video, but no this video for some reason was beyond anything I have ever watched. Maybe it was the intensity of the crowd, or the loudness from the speakers, but i literally had goose bumps. Chills ran down my spine, and it was just a video. I think that it was the overall sense, of my new life here at KU that made me feel this way. After the video ended, the game was shortly under way. Running all over the Buffaloes was not to say the least surprising but the experience definitely was. At the end of a 89 to 63 win, the home crowd, hooted and hollered for our team. This was the first time I was able to see my passion in real life and it was amazing. I could not wait to go again to see the Jayhawks play who ever crossed there paths next, under the lights, at Allen Field house.
